Sewing Tools

My intent is to provide some details on the tools of the trade that I use in my sewing endeavors...
  • Tailor's ham
  • This ham is an old-fashioned style ham with sawdust on the inside from Stitch Nerd. Stitch Nerd lets you pick out the fabrics, one cotton and one wool. It's super cute and very handy!
  • Dress form
  • I picked up a dress form when I had an impending skirt to hem. I knew that I would be able to talk my husband into attempting to mark the hem length for me, but didn't want that to be what I had to rely on. It's an adjustable Dritz Double Deluxe. I've managed to fit my bust, waist, and hip measurements with the help of a little padding in an old bra. I haven't attempted any kind of fitting yet... We'll see how that goes.
  • Kenmore sewing machine
  • I bought this sewing machine without doing any research. I just walked into a Sears store, knowing that I wanted a machine that could do more than just straight stitch and something not too expensive. This is what I walked out with. I've been very pleased with it. Lucky me, I'm sure! you can also see the pink side of the ham in this photo.
  • Awl
  • Silk organza press cloth
  • Cordless iron
  • The iron that I use is actually just one my husband and I had bought after our last iron died, before I got into sewing. The cool thing is that it is cordless. I'm a little spoiled by a cordless iron and struggle to deal with the corded kind in a hotel, etc.
  • Indoor flash
